This back-to-school activity helps students understand how they learn and gives them strategies to use to become more productive learners for the upcoming year.
The activity is in a book-themed Power Point which is geared toward students in upper-level grades. Students tally how many characteristics describe them from each style and record results on a coordinating worksheet. Students take a 16 question Learning Style Inventory (multiple-choice), add up the results, and identify their learning style.
Divide the class into 3 groups based on their learning style, discuss what each style means and give some possible study tips (included). Ask groups to discuss strategies that work for them and to write their own study tips. Post student work on a back-to-school bulletin board. Learning Style Clip Art is included for you to print and use on the bulletin board.
