Animated Step-by-Steps® are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
There are three versions of My Little Red Wagon. This is the Picture Communication Symbols Version (Tobii/Dynavox). Note: The symbols appear AFTER the page animations are completed (so symbols will not steal attention from a literacy first agenda) on symbol-supported versions. Please note these ASbyS resources do NOT translate well into Keynote.
This resource is a variation on a traditional song, My Little Red Wagon.
Students are encouraged to act out the actions:
-Bouncing up and down in their seats
-Swaying side to side
-Rocking front to back
-Pantomime peeling and eating a banana
-Hopping on one foot (one wheel’s off and the axel’s dragging)
Pages have a Song Button that can be used to support singing the song. I typically read and animate the text then use the song button to sing the page using the picture symbols.
My Little Red Wagon can be personalized with photo faces of your students. Here’s some links with information on how to personalize your ASbySs.
This resource can be displayed on the 'big screen' (interactive whiteboard, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the 'small screen' (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app). When using an interactive whiteboard, remote switch access works beautiful in a broad range of classrooms. Please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps blog for further information on the creative use of these educational resources. http://animatedstepbysteps.blogspot.com
If you are conducting a transportation theme, this resource pairs well with the Chuga Chuga Song
