Teach Grammar in Context with this awesome worksheet!
Don't leave grammar out! Teach it in context! After you read Sandra Cisernos' My Lucy Friend Who Smells Like Corn, you can work on the five main verbals: Appositives, Participial Phrases, Prepositional Phrases, Gerunds and Infinitives. This grammar activity is helpful because we all know that our students are lacking in this department, but we also know that there just isn't enough time to teach grammar alone. Therefore, I teach it with stories.
First, students will match the verbal to it's definition. Then, they will be asked to identify 10 examples from the text. This encourages students to re-read and analyze for comprehension and grammatical understanding.
