This is a great activity to get to know your students better. It is perfect for a beginning of the year activity when you want to learn more about your math students. It is also great for filling math classes during unusual school weeks, such as just before holidays, during standardized assessment weeks, or even in the last days of school. This is a very fun activity and will keep your students engaged.
Included in this packet:
*Assignment criteria sheet/handout for students
*Planning worksheets for students to brainstorm their work before they write
*Rubric for correcting the assignment
*Two student examples from my classroom
I have used approximately (5) 40-minute class periods from start to finish on this project. First, we brainstormed and wrote on the planning papers. Next, we began to type or hand write the first draft. We then peer-edited and revised. Lastly, we polished our final work and presented to the class.
Please ask if you have any questions.
