This packet contains a memory book for students to create themselves! It’s a perfect two-week writing project for the end of the year. There are two different kinds of paper to use for writing: penmanship lines and plain lines. Choose the version that works best for you and your students.
Copy all pages of the book for each student. You may want to make the cover a different color, and include a back cover. Or not. I think it makes it more special, but if my paper supply is low, I reevaluate.
With your students, create a chart-sized list of activities, subjects, projects, or books that were part of your curriculum in each month. To help my students remember, I share photos that I took during each month. Remember to include which students’ birthdays, field trips, guest speakers, special dress-up days, school-wide events, homework projects, assemblies, and anything else you can think of.
I allow my students time to discuss the highlights on the list with a buddy, and then they write about their favorites. Students create their own illustrations. Alternatively, you could include photographs.
With my young students, I generally focus on one month per day. Older students may be able to work faster.
This packet also includes four pages on which students can record some favorites for the year, including lunches, books, friends, and activities.
