Connect students with migration content and history by having them research their own migration history. Students interview family members to answer the question "Why do you live here?" as opposed to elsewhere in the world. Regardless of a student's background, every student can find a story of movement from one place to another in the history of their family, whether its an intraregional move from one town to another or an international move between countries. Even students who are adopted can tell the story of why their adoptive parents decided they should live here.
Project file includes objectives and standards alignment, student-friendly instructions, a rubric, and an example of a finished product, all in an editable word document! This project was designed for Minnesota students and would require a quick find/replace to fit into the curriculum of another state.
