Based upon the book, "My Mouth Is A Volcano”, by Julia Cook, that discusses interrupting, active listening, good manners, and listening skills, this PowerPoint presentation is a great way to talk about lots of different topics.
Using this presentation for your guidance lesson, you can easily help students to identify when it is OK to speak, how to wait patiently, how to interrupt politely, and how to prevent oneself from blurting out. It is also a platform that helps you to explain that good friendship skills include thinking about others and self-control.
This presentation has 13 slides and includes a link to the book being read aloud by me, Counselor Bev. The video runs approximately 10 minutes.
The presentation includes a variety of activities at the end from which you can choose to utilize. I would schedule 30-45 minutes for this lesson and one activity.
The PowerPoint is customizable and includes comprehension questions to support you in your lesson. The presentation includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
