A complete 4-day lesson that guides students through planning and writing an original short story. Should be used after students are familiar with the basic elements and structure of a short story. Introduces the steps of the writing process in a non-threatening format. Depending on the age/grade/ability of the students, each lesson may be used as part of a class period or as the entire day's lesson. Days 1 and 2 will take students approximately 30 minutes to thoughtfully complete, while Days 3 (Rough Draft) and 4 (Final Draft) will take significantly longer. The writing process is broken down step-by-step as students decide who and what they will write about. Editing and revising take place on day 4, making the planning process less intimidating and more fun. Pages have enough room for students to write, with lined pages provided for the rough and final drafts. May be used with class instruction or as an independent assignment.
