This is an activity for intermediate-leveled students who are improving their speaking abilities, and a slightly more advanced version of an elementary school version I also produced. In this partner-oriented activity, one student is first provided with a word or phrase. That student will then explain the phrase to his/her partner as if that student does not know anything about the particular word or phrase.
For example, if I have a partner and I am provided with the word "school," I am supposed to tell my partner all about school. What it looks like, what happens there, etc.
This is also a good way to indirectly assess students' speaking proficiency because this activity requires students to use a lot of knowledge from various subjects.
