I created this product to help my students expand their Word Choice when writing. I wanted them to get away from some of those boring and overused verbs and adjectives that are so often used. With their own Personal Thesauruses, students can find synonyms and antonyms for common verbs and adjectives. This helps reinforce their reference skills and gives them a tool for writing.
To put these Personal Thesauruses together, copy enough of each page for each student. All pages are 2 to a page. Then, cut on the dotted line, sort, and staple into books. To save paper, I would recommend copying back-to-back.
There are two different ways to organize these thesauruses:
Thesauruses can be alphabetical with verbs and adjectives mixed.
Thesauruses can broken into the categories of verbs and adjectives, with cover pages to separate them.
I have also included a blank page at the end to use as needed.
To complete their thesauruses, I would recommend having students look up one verb and one adjective per day. Eventually, their books will be filled and they can use them to refer to when writing. This product is a great activity for word work.
