I use this picture-word journal in my kindergarten classroom as we introduce or study the letters of the alphabet. As each letter is introduced the students complete a page in their journal. They begin by circling the letter we are studying from either the header or footer (the alphabet is displayed along the top and bottom of each page). They then trace the letter and the word at the top of the page. I keep a basket filled with alphabet pictures (with the words written on the back) at the center. After completing the top portion of the page my students choose 3 cards from the basket. They draw the picture in the box and copy the word, more advanced students could complete this portion without picture cards, have them think of an item that begins with the letter draw it and sound out the word.
This packet includes 28 black and white pages.
