This MiniBook provides students with a way to visualize where they are in the vastness of the universe. It provides a valuable resource for students to refer to as they work through the "Earth's Place in the Universe" Next Generation Standards.
These Guided Notes contain everything you need to create mini books for each of your students. Minimal paper and cutting is required. There is no folding. Simply staple the booklet together and glue it into a notebook to create an interactive, information filled booklet.
A colored version is included that you can use to make a sample for students. Notes can displayed through a projector or under a document camera to share with students. You may even wish to share the colored answer key with students by pushing it out to their devices, so they can work at their own place.
Guided notes are teacher-prepared hand-outs that outline or map lectures, but leave "blank" space for key concepts, facts, definitions,...
Several studies suggest that providing students with guided notes improves both the
quality of notes taken and students’ performance on exams.
Next Generation Science Standards include MS-ESS1 Earth's Place in the Universe
Students who demonstrate understanding can:
MS-ESS1-1. Develop and use a model of the Earth-sun-moon system to describe the cyclic patterns of lunar phases, eclipses of the sun and moon, and seasons.
MS-ESS1-2. Develop and use a model to describe the role of gravity in the motions within galaxies and the solar system. [
MS-ESS1-3. Analyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects in the solar system.
MS-ESS1-4. Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence from rock strata for how the geologic time scale is used to organize Earth's 4.6-billion-year-old history.
