Welcome to my Microsoft PowerPoint School Year in Review Project. My students absolutely loved this project. It requires no research, which after a year of research projects, they were very excited about. I was amazed at how much thought they put into each slide. Several students thanked me for giving them a project with so much creative writing. I know PowerPoints are supposed to use bullets for the slides and I have several of those projects waiting in the wings. This project lended itself more to paragraphs with the last slide being a numbered list.
This curriculum includes my easy to read, step by step lesson plans, a sample PowerPoint done by me, a slide requirement sheet and a letter to my parents requesting flashdrives or CD's to download the PowerPoints for the kids to take home. I wanted this project to be something that the students could keep and look back on in 5 or 10 years to remember things about their younger grades.
Some skills included in this project are Word Art, Clip Art, text boxes, backgrounds, navigating from one slide to the next, animation and sound.
The other reason my students love my PowerPoint projects is that it brings out their creative side. They can use color, animation and sound to tell their experiences during their school year. Their favorite slide to do hands down is the last one where they give tips to the upcoming students for that grade, what they need to know about the grade and their teacher in particular. I find out a lot about my fellow educators that I didn't know before! :)
I feel like the key to teaching computers is to engage the students in a fun learning experience and they learn the skills almost without knowing it. I hope you will consider purchasing my curriculum. It is fun, challenging and you just might learn something that you didn't know before!
