A little Halloween fun! Students write “My Secret Potion” on the top lines. They draw the potion’s ingredients in the cauldron (frog legs, dog hairs, bat eyeballs, etc.). They list the ingredients below the cauldron. I give my kinders help/support as needed. My first graders can write pretty independently. At the bottom, students describe what their potion does by writing a sentence that begins with “My secret potion…”. My rule is that the potion has to do something positive (or silly is okay too), but it can’t do harm. For example: My secret potion turns all broccoli into ice cream. or- My secret potion makes you jump 10 feet into the air.
