My Shadow Book is an easy to use booklet for students to record and measure the change in shadows during the day, using a picture of a groundhog.
This book is printed with two pages of the booklet per sheet of paper, in black and white to save ink. It includes a cover page and two recording pages per book.
Students will attach the groundhog picture to a stick to stand outside in the sunlight. During the day, the students will bring their My Shadow Book to draw, record, and then measure the change in the shadow.
Even though it is a simple activity this book also provides curriculum development in:
Science collection of data
Measuring an object
Making inferences and conclusions on why the shadow changed.
Recognizing that a shadow needs a light source, in this case the sun
This is a sample of a series of booklets Shadow Fun Projects to be used throughout the year for studying shadows. Make sure you follow my store Mickey's Place
