This fun book provides students with the opportunity to identify and draw shapes, find real-life examples of shapes, explore characteristics of shapes (sides/corners), compare shapes, draw pictures with shapes, and write about shapes. Students will create a book that they can take home and read many times!
You as the teacher have the flexibility to customize the book to meet the needs of your students. The book includes a page for each of the following shapes: square, circle, triangle, rectangle, oval, diamond, trapezoid, parallelogram, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon. On these pages, students can practice drawing these shapes, or they can draw real-life examples of each shape. Students will also identify the number of sides and corners for each shape. Students then will draw shapes with a given number of sides (1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8). Additional pages include one that asks students to identify and draw their favorite shape, a page for students to draw a picture using shapes, and one page that asks students to write about shapes. Another page asks students to choose two shapes and identify their similarities and differences. You can select which pages to include in the book for your students, and you use any of the pages as a separate learning activity.
[Please note: I have noticed that the margins of the printable pages sometimes look different when printed on different printers, as with many documents. Hopefully, when you print, the margins and borders will be perfectly centered, as they are designed to be! If not, you may want to try printing from a different printer or adjust printer settings if you are able to do that. If that does not work, please send me a comment or question with your e-mail address, and I will contact you by e-mail so we can find a solution that works for you!]
