This product focuses on standard MGSE1.G.1 (distinguish between defining and non-defining attributes) (First Grade)
This product includes:
-two sets of shapes to hand to your students
-two separate recording sheets to math the two sets of shapes. (This recording sheet allows students to determine defining attributes as well as non-defining attributes of various shapes.
-"my shape pizza has" Recording sheet to allow students to identify the shapes on their pizza.
*Product also includes a "less-prep" version that doesn't require the teacher to cut out the parts of the pizza (crust, sauce, and cheese).*
-First print out the product.
-Trace the two templates onto cardstock or a file folder to create sturdier templates.
-Use the templates to create the crust (on brown construction paper) and to create the sauce (on red construction paper)
-Cut up pieces of yellow construction paper for cheese.
-Give each student a crust circle, sauce circle, and a handful of cheese.
-Allow them to put their pizza together.
-Once they've completed that, hand them a half sheet of shapes. Allow them to color their shapes and cut them out.
-Once all shapes are cut, allow them to glue their shapes on their pizza.
-Once the entire pizza is complete, allow them to glue their pizza on their recording sheet, and discuss/record the different attributes.
-Once that's finished, you can hand students a half sheet of "my pizza has" and allow them to identify the different shapes on their pizza.
