This is a complete unit for Jean Craighead George's, "My Side of the Mountain" that I used with a 5th Grade classroom containing both Regular Education and Learning Support students. The activities are easily adaptable to students in all reading levels. The unit contains vocabulary activities for each chapter, study questions for each chapter, and a variety of different projects and activities that develop students higher-level thinking skills as they extend and refine their knowledge about the novel. Other activities include debates on the themes and events in the book, vocabulary games, internet activities, projects, several activities that stress informational and persuasive writing, and two power point presentations.
There are approximately 40 activities altogether including comprehensive assessments with answer keys.
With copies of the novel for each student, this unit is completely ready to go - your lesson plans would be done for you!
Each activity is also available individually.
