This journal can be used to help emergent readers remember sight words. Students can practice reading and spelling their words. Next, they think of their own sentence to write the word in. Lastly, they illustrate their sentence. When students take ownership of the sight word and make it their own, they will remember it. This book can be used as a practice activity in place of using flashcards. Students can keep this book in their desks and practice reading it until they build up sight word fluency.
