This is a fun and creative way to cover multiple standards in one project based activity! To create this festive pumpkin and/or cat project students will need to engage their math skills, language arts skills, fine motor skills, and artistic talents. This is a hit in my classroom every year. My students find it so fun and engaging and I always love they way they turn out! I hope you love it too!
Project in a nutshell:
First, students will solve several different addition and subtraction math equations.
Next, they will color code each sum or difference as even or odd.
This code will give them the key needed to create either a pumpkin or a cat using construction paper.
The construction paper will need to be folded and cut carefully, which will help develop their fine motor skills.
After they have made a basic pumpkin or cat they can give it a special personality.
Finally, students will describe their special pumpkin or cat using adjectives.
I have included step by step directions with pictures inside the product.
