This ongoing spelling project is meant to be carried on throughout the course of the school year. It allows students to choose word(s) from weekly spelling lists to include in their spelling pattern books. Each word gets its own page. The student includes spelling pattern studied, a picture and a sentence to put the word into context and make it more meaningful. As pages are added, the child places them in ABC order. This activity ties well into writing workshop where grammar skills, punctuation, and capitalization will also be put into practice.
