This easy-to-make and use emergent reader is the perfect addition Counting, Tracing, Autumn, or Insect Unit in your classroom. In addition, this is a great emergent reader for your student practicing the sight words "my" and "has".
Not only are your students practicing counting, they are also repeatedly practicing drawing lines.
The repeating text is: My spider has ___ legs.
There are 2 emergent readers on each page. It is very easy to make! Just copy together, staple, and use a paper-cutter for 1 cut. No additional cutting required!
There are 2 options for this emergent reader for differentiated levels:
1. Students trace and count the legs of the spider from 1-8. The numbers are already on the page.
2. Students trace and count the legs of the spider from 1-8. The students must then fill in the blank the the corresponding number.
While I use this in October, the book does not contain Halloween graphics so you can use it all year round. In addition, the Halloween graphics are left out so if your school does not allow "Halloween" activities, it can still be used in October!
