Purpose: The purpose of this unit is to let students have fun with writing and design through the creation of their own store, along with its own logo, advertisement, inventory, history, and pricing.
How to use: Students are answering the question, “If you had your own store, what would it be?” It can be any kind of store: bakery, hardware, electronics, auto repair, sewing... the possibilities are as unlimited as the imagination!
Once a student has selected a type of store, he or she must decide on a store name, what the store sells, and the store history (Founded by the Travis brothers in 1945...), as well as invent a store logo in one of the provided templates.
Every store needs a newspaper advertisement, too! This can be announcing a special sale or just advertising the store in general.
Just like a real store, this store must carry inventory, and students must come up with prices for each item.
Finally, an invoice template is included to extend this into a math lesson.
