This document includes a blank template for students to draw their 4 Very Important Places. The template resembles a scrapbook or photo album.
I used “My Very Important Places” as a getting to know you activity for my social studies class but could also be used as an early finisher, sponge activity, or bellringer. It gave me insight about where my students had been before, as well as their interests, and it ties in to my geography curriculum. I’ve included some student samples, but I also had students use pictures they printed off the computer, personal photos, and you can use magazine clippings too. I gave my students an opportunity to share out their VIP lists for everyone to hear. This could also be an addition to a writing assignment. Have fun!
