This sculpture was created out of 19 gauge annealed steel wire, crewel embroidery thread and parts of vintage children books, In order to create the wire armature, I used a clip art image of a dog silhouette blown up to the size I wanted. Then, I shaped the wire following the contours of the silhouetted dog twice creating a front and back of the dog. Then I joined the front of the dog to the back with wire and added wire supports until the dog felt sturdy. The next step was to fill in the empty spaces between the structural framework with vintage children book illustrations. You could fill in with old text, old letters or any paper products. I sewed the paper to the wire frame. In addition to the materials mentioned above, needle nosed pliers and scissors will be needed. The holes I created in the dog are optional.
