Spatial visualization is a key ability in STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, art and math). This free packet contains select pages from our educational adventure book, Journey to Cloud City, meant to build spatial visualization ability in children. Each activity is designed to offer a fun and creative way to flex spatial skills. Find out more about our mission to inspire creative problem solving in children and order the book at www.MyraMakes.com or by emailing us at Contact@MyraMakes.com.
Learning Objectives: Spatial Visualization and Problem Solving
Spatial visualization is the mental manipulation of objects, such as rearranging shapes or seeing how pieces of a puzzle can fit together. It forms the basis for the understanding of many STEAM subjects; for example, in organic chemistry, having a strong spatial visualization ability allows the student to see how different components fit together in a complex organic molecule. Spatial visualization can be strengthened through practice, such as completing mazes, understanding maps, and arranging a group of shapes into a particular pattern. These spatial visualization activities also require problem solving to interpret and find the best solution to the given challenge.
6 activity pages and a cover page. Each activity page has a creative spatial visualization challenge which requires the child to use problem solving skills to find the best solution.
