Lost and forgotten by the world for several centuries after being abandoned, the overgrown city was re-discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, an American professor. This text tells the amazing story of Machu Picchu: how it was built and what it looked like in its heyday, what may have happened to the people who lived there, and how Hiram Bingham uncovered Machu Picchu and learned more about it.
