Animated Step-by-Steps are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
There are three versions of this resource. This is the SymbolStix Version ( n2y) .
This ASbyS offers a strong literacy component. There are two sets of mystery items: Mystery Fruits & MysteryVeggies. Each set has its own launch page. Students are invited to choose a colored ball from the launch page; the page then navigates to a linked page where students are invited to guess the mystery food item based on its print cue and auditory hints provided by the Facilitator. Facilitators are encouraged to provide a hint when cued with a ‘ding’. Hints will vary depending upon the level of the students in the class. Hints can include: 1. a color clue 2. Adding letters to the mystery word to simplify the guess, 3 providing information on where the fruit/veggie originates (e.g. tree, vine, bush, underground), 4. Part of the plant (root, stem, leaves, flower/seed)
Animation 1: the previously selected colored ball rolls onto the page.
Animation 2: the ball is shook and a ‘ding’ is heard, reminding the facilitator to provide a clue, e.g. This fruit is red and grows on a tree.
Animation 3: the ball is opened and the fruit/veggie is revealed and announced
Pen Tool: Use the pen tools of the Ineractive Whiteboard to fill in the missing letters of the food’s label
Animation 4: reveals the correct spelling of the target label.
This resource can be displayed on the 'big screen' (interactive whiteboard, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the 'small screen' (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app).
