This EDITABLE resource was inspired by a colleague of mine. Every year for the holidays she wraps up picture books in festive paper and lets her students pick one each day as a read aloud. It keeps the kids engaged and wondering which holiday favorite will be next.
I thought, “Let’s have a mystery activity to go with each book.” I grabbed a few holiday go-to titles for myself and created activity cards for each one. Some of the cards connect with the book and some do not, but they will excite the kids just the same. I taped each card to the inside cover so they don’t get torn when the children unwrap the book. I read the story first, then I tell them the activity. Some are crafts, some are Stem tasks and some are just plain fun. I have included some sheets to accompany a few of the activity cards. Enjoy! Below are the specific title I use, but feel free to use ANY holiday stories.
