Mystery Objects is an inference activity where the students will need to use their knowledge of properties of matter to identify the mystery object. Properties of Matter that are covered are:
* State of Matter
Included in this resource are example anchor charts, a mini poster to be used as a reference, 4 mystery Object Picture mini-posters, 4 sets of clues (4 clues each) and inference answer cards to go with each mystery object.
The students will read each clue and identify the property of matter being described, classify the property as measurable or observable, and then make a guess of what the mystery object is based on the clue. Their guesses can (and should) change as they read their clue. Once they get through all four clues, they will make their final guess of what the mystery object is and then look at the mystery object mini-poster to see if their inferences were correct.
This is a fun, short activtiy that students can do independently, or in small groups, in a center or even whole group! it is a fun way to review their knowledge of properties of matter!
