Students practise identifying odd and even numbers and colour the picture according to the key provided. This whale picture comes with 3 differentiated levels – beginning, consolidating and extension, allowing students to work at their appropriate level.
BEGINNER – odd and even numbers to 20
CONSOLIDATING – 1 and 2 digit odd and even numbers
EXTENSION – 1, 2 and 3 digit odd and even numbers
I have used mystery pictures as a pre-assessment and/or post-assessment at the beginning and/or conclusion of a unit of work to assess students’ understanding. I also use them as an early finisher task, as a way to practise a skill, as something different for homework or a maths warm up.
While helpful in the classroom, this set can also be useful for tutors or parents who wish to help their children improve their understanding of odd and even numbers.
