Product Description
This packet comes with 4 different pictures, each with 3 levels of difficulty totalling 12 pictures. Each of the 12 pictures also comes with its own answer key. Students colour the numbered boxes according to the key, creating a mosaic pattern. The 3 differentiated levels – beginning, consolidating and extension, allow students to work at their appropriate level. In addition to my color key, I have also included a second copy of each sheet where students can create a color key of their own rather than following mine.

Place Value Mosaic 1 – Identify ONE PLACE in a number
Beginner – identify the ONES in 1 & 2 digit numbers

Extension – identify the TENS & HUNDREDS in 2, 3 & 4 digit numbers

Place Value Mosaic 3 & 4 – Identify ALL PLACES in a number

I have used Mosaic Math Squares as a pre-assessment and/or post-assessment at the beginning and/or conclusion of a unit of work to assess students’ understanding. I also use them as an early finisher task, as a way to practise a skill, as something different for homework or a maths warm up. The mosaics look fantastic as a display in the classroom either using the colour key provided, or allowing students to select their own colours.

While helpful in the classroom, this set can also be useful for tutors or parents who wish to help their children improve their understanding of place value.
