This is a twist on the classic microscope lab looking at plant cells. Instead of telling students what they are looking at, you provide mystery cells and allow students to make their own discoveries. Students must think about the parts of the plant and match the cell that can do the same function. Students will observe leaf, root and stem cells. They must make claims using evidence to figure out each of the three mystery cells. This activity includes the two-page lab, answer key and a resource showing pictures of what they may see under the microscope.
