Mission- to get all 3 numbers to unlock their "mystery box"
How- Students must complete all 3 tasks in a group. Once they get the answer correct for each task, each group will get a "clue" that will lead them to another iPad or computer that has their next task/number for their combination.
I created four groups with a captain for each group. I started off the Mystery Box activity by putting an hour and a half on a timer on the board. The Mystery Boxes (one for each team) were hidden in different classrooms throughout the school. I told the students whose iPad the first task was on and the activity began. Students must get every answer correct and show the teacher before they are allowed to get the next clue.
All of the Mystery Boxes have a suitcase lock with a 3 number combination on them. After completing all 3 tasks, the students will be able to find the boxes and unlock the lock.
(If your classroom does not have multiple computers, you can upload all 3 tasks to one computer.)
***Mystery Box and locks are not included***
I have included the tasks as Keynotes and as PowerPoints depending on if you have a Mac or a PC. I have also included an answer sheet and the student activity sheet as a Word document.
The first task is all patterns.
The second task is all word problems.
The third task is a place value review.
