3 Pages of circles with student numbers (1-30). Print on sturdy paper, laminate and cut out. Pull a mystery student at the times of your choice (morning routine, bathroom breaks, hallway time, in-class activities, partner work...). You may choose to let the students know you are picking a mystery student, or you may keep it to yourself (I like to mix it up). Watch to make sure that student is following directions/working well with others/doing personal best. When you are ready, announce who the mystery student is. Explain what they were doing that was impressive, and then give them a designated reward. This is a great way to keep all students motivated. If they know you have pulled a mystery mover, they are going to try extra hard to be on their best behavior incase you have their number. Also, it only takes 1 time for a student to be the mystery student and they were not following directions. Simply tell them that they will have to wait until next time and you will try again. Stay consistent with rewards and don't feel bad if the mystery student is not deserving of the reward. This system will not work if students know they will get the reward even if they really aren't following directions.
