Mystery; Book Study; Cynthia Rylant;

This mystery unit is a great way to introduce the mystery genre to younger students. The Case of the Missing Monkey is a simple Level 2 book by Cynthia Rylant. It is the first of the High-Rise Private Eyes Series. I've provided some great posters which can be used for any mystery unit or novel study.

In this unit, I've included:
1. Elements of a Mystery and vocabulary (can be used as a powerpoint slide show and as posters.)
2. Detective clipboards to write down all clues about suspects (4)
3. Solving the mystery with elements of the mystery and draw a picture of the crime scene
4. Solving the mystery grid with inferences
5. Circle the objects that were part of the story
6. Crack the code
7. Cut and paste phrases under correct suspect.
8. Additional Mystery websites and beginning mystery books
9. Create your own breakfast menu for “The Grill Next
Door”. Be creative in your menu. (2 pages)
9. Template for a student crime folder.
