This mystery writing project lets your students immerse themselves in the fairy tale Princess and the Pea. Students become detectives who solve the mystery of who stole the Royal Pea. Students write a mystery “Who done it?”
Your students will write the beginning, middle and end of their mystery. Their writing project will answer the W questions of who, what, when, where, why and, of course, how. How did the Royal Police catch the thieves? How did the thieves steal the pea? Where are the thieves hiding? Why did they steal the pea in the first place? Let the creative juices flow and the fun begin!
This creative writing project will fit right in to your writing time. It’s a great way to infuse fun and the love of literature into your regular writing block.
This resource is filled with posters that can be printed or projected to guide your students through crafting the beginning, middle and end of their mystery. There are student handouts, graphic organizers, Princess and the Pea papers, a conference sign-up sheet, and a reward certificate. This writing project also includes a Princess and the Pea book list and a video list. Rubric included!
