This two-fold project is designed to work with any myth, folk tale, fairy tale, legend or fable. Students choose a story from any of these genres to complete the project, which accommodates students on a wide variety of reading levels. This product DOES NOT contain the myths, folk tales, fairy tales, legends, or fables.
Part 1 is a story map aligned with Common Core standards. Areas of focus are: adjectives describing the exposition, adjectives describing the protagonist and antagonist, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, conflict resolution, changes in character, point of view, and theme or central idea.
Part 2 is a self-selected project that correlates with the story. Over 50 project suggestions are provided, categorized in 8 different learning styles based on multiple-intelligence theory.
A rubric is provided. The story map is 50 points of the grade, 10 points for spelling, grammar, and conventions, and the remaining 40 points are allotted to the project.
