Introduce or review myths and fables. This unit is focused on the CCSS standard RL2.3. Hopefully, even if you are not teaching Common Core, this unit will still be helpful when teaching students about myths and fables. The activities are designed to practice key ideas and compare and contrast. There are seven re-written myths and five fables. Although designed around 2nd grade standards, this unit would also be a good to introduce myths and review fables for 3rd graders and could be used for guided reading groups.
Activities include graphic organizers, questions and matching activities with a focus on Key Ideas and Compare and Contrast. Students compare and contrast two myths using a VENN diagram, answer Riddles about Key Ideas and answer multiple-choice and short answer questions. There are discussion cards which can be used for partner or group activities. There are also student copies which can be completed by individual students.
