Many Language Arts units require the study of myths, legends, or folklore. It could also be used in some Social Studies classes that study myths if writing is required across the curriculum.
This packet contains a notes page which distinguishes between myths and legends, both a completed and blank page are included. It then has a stepped guide to move students through the process of writing their own myths. It has a pre-writing page to gather thoughts and ideas, clarify thinking and direction, and include key components of a myth. There is a draft check page that I have used to read students' drafts and give feedback about how to improve. Finally the overall rubric for their writing (a 50 point total piece) is given as well.
