This simulation turns your classroom into a marketplace, as students must try to maximize profit or consumption. Acting as two separate countries, students fulfill the role of consumer and producer to see what impact occurs on producers and consumers when tariffs are removed and free trade utilized.
Unlike history classes of the past, simulations allow the content to come alive. Included in this zip file purchase are an explanation of the simulation, all needed materials, and sample fake currency you can use in the class. You simply need white computer paper as well as a colored computer paper (I use red) to print on.
I have used this simulation for a 7th grade Geography unit as well as high school units on economics/tariffs and have found it successful with all groups.
