As a middle school teacher, I have 150 students each year! That's a lot of names to remember! So the first day of school, I like them to spend a few minutes making a name plate that they can put on the corner of their desks to help me with learning their names. Once it's time to switch classes they can easily fold it up and store it in their binder for the next day. I believe that nothing makes a child feel more welcome than when they can be called on by name rather than "hey you, there in the green shirt, yeah you." The top section, "Do Right and Be Kind" is our school motto. Those are the only true rules we have. If you can do those 2 things, then you would be following any other rules set in place.
To use this, the students just fold the on the lines to create a triangular prism with their name facing towards me and the motto towards themselves.
