Wildfire Vocabulary Terms

Wildfires are becoming more extensive, deadly and expensive every year. It is imperative for our students to be able to read and understand the scope of the problem confronting our world. This means that they need to know the specialized vocabulary concerning wildfires. So when you go to read informational texts on forest fires and wildfires your students can either spend their time looking up meanings in a dictionary or you could show them this highly engaging presentation on the vocabulary terms they will need to know to understand their texts.

Close reading of informational texts requires familiarity with topic specific vocabulary terms and concepts. This product features 26 academic terms and concepts related to wildfires. Each word is presented on its own slide with a definition, part of speech, photograph, and used in a sentence. The words are presented alphabetically and are paired with a handout for writing down the definition and example sentence. A companion quiz with a built in answer guide is also available. At the end of the vocabulary presentation are YouTube links to recent wildfires.
