Students benefit from activities that apply to real-world situations. This activity allows students to choose their data and apply it in ways that are used in real-world situations.
Students use their favorite basketball team rosters to create data tables, box & whisker plots, and determine the mean, median, mode, and range; first, second, and third quartiles; minimums and maximums, as well as, determine what each set of data means.
If technology is not available to research current team rosters, another option is to pick one team, print the roster and copy it for students.
This product can be used as a partner activity, individual assignment, group work, homework, etc.
Files include pdf and MS Word formats for personalizing the activity to best suit your needs or an easy no-prep activity.
