Product Description
These 36 task cards will keep your students engaged and having fun while practicing third grade area skills. Answer sheets are provided for teacher quick check or student self-check and a recording sheet is provided for repeated use of task cards and enough room for students to show their work. You can use these cards as whole group activities, SCOOT game around the room, small group centers, homework assignments, assessments, an intervention tool, or to spiral concepts throughout the year.

Cards 1-8 illustrate squares and rectangles where students can count the area or use the formula to find the area. (open-ended)
Cards 9-16 are real-life objects with dimensions listed and require students to find the area in word problem format. (open-ended)
Cards 17-24 are word problems asking students to find the area but the visual representation is taken away. (open-ended)
Cards 25-32 are in multiple choice format for students to practice this test-taking skill.
Cards 33-36 are higher level thinking, open-ended questions.

Problems get progressively more difficult (finding area of rectangles where squares and side lengths are present, counting square tiles in rectangles to find area, answering word problems with visual representations, answering word problems with no visual representations and higher level thinking word problems).

*Note: all numbers are within the times table- no values greater than (12 x 12)
