BUNDLE ALERT!!!! Area, Perimeter and Volume!
90 task cards and a volume puzzle game for your students to have fun with while practicing their area, perimeter and volume skills!
This is a bundle of 4 products from my store. Purchase the package and save $2.25 versus buying all 4 documents separately for $9.25.
In the download you will receive:
1. Looking for a fun way for your students to practice volume? Here is a puzzle matching game with 10 different matches including an answer key!!
Just simply print, preferably in color, cut, laminate and shuffle cards. Have your students complete the puzzles at a center and check their matches with the answer key provided. Even use as an introduction game to the unit or as a spiral review activity. It's a great activity for fast finishers too!
This document is aligned to Texas 5.4H VOLUME ONLY (readiness)
Common Core: 5.MD.C.3 and 5.MD.C.4
2. Volume Task Cards
Are you tired of drawing 3D figures, labeling the sides with random numbers and asking your students to find the volume? Need more authentic practice and higher level thinking scenarios and questions? Well stop your search!
Here are 40 task cards that are differentiated to start out with simple volume questions and then build up to higher level thinking skills.
What’s in the download?
Cards 1-8 focus on finding the volume of 3D figures when the sides are labeled or the units can be counted.
Cards 9-16 are higher level thinking and ask students to find missing dimensions when the volume is given.
Cards 17-24 require students to analyze diagrams and models and find the volume.
Cards 25-32 have students create their own real-world scenarios or choose one that relates to situations where finding the volume is needed.
Cards 33-40 ask students to find the volume of shapes that are not perfect prisms.
There are a mixture of open ended and multiple choice questions throughout the set of task cards!
This document is aligned to Texas 5.4H VOLUME ONLY (readiness) 5.6A and 5.6B (supporting)
Common Core: 5.MD.C.3, 5.MD.C.3a, 5.MD.C.3b, 5.MD.C.4 and 5.MD.C.5b
3. Area Task Cards
Area problems aren’t so cut and dry anymore. Students are being asked to double dimensions, compare the square footage of two figures, find missing sides of objects, etc. If your students need more practice with these higher level thinking skills, you’ll love this document.
Included in the download are 20 open ended problems that strictly focus on area. Research shows that teaching area in isolation from perimeter helps student to retain the concept. There is a mixture of word problems, diagrams on grids, multi-step problems, finding missing sides, etc. Answer key is included for student self-check or teacher quick-check.
Students will also need to be familiar with multiplying a decimal by a whole number for a few of the questions.
This document is aligned to Texas 5.4H AREA ONLY and Common Core 4.MD.A.3 AREA ONLY
4. Perimeter Task Cards
Are you tired of drawing shapes on your white board or SMART board, labeling the sides with random numbers and asking your students to calculate the perimeter? Need more authentic practice and higher level thinking scenarios and questions? Well stop your search!
Here are 30 task cards that are a mixture of open ended, multiple choice, measuring, and missing dimensions questions that require higher level thinking skills.
Students will asked to: find mystery sides of shapes then calculate the perimeter, choose formulas that match given scenarios, use a ruler to measure shapes and calculate perimeter. All questions relate to real-world scenarios that require you to find perimeter.
This document is aligned to Texas 5.4H PERIMETER ONLY (readiness)
Common Core: 4.MD.A.3
All you need to do for all of the task card sets is print, preferably in color, cut, laminate and shuffle cards. Then the options are endless:
•Have your students complete the cards at a center and record their answers on the recording key provided. Or get up and move by placing them around the room and playing a game of SCOOT.
•Use as a ticket out the door, picking one out of the stack to complete as a quick check or spiral throughout the year.
•Assign a sheet for homework for the night.
•Even use as an assessment or intervention
•Great for fast finishers too!
This mixture of task cards is perfect for centers, independent practice, small group work, intervention or just as a spiral review game. Recording sheet for students provided as well as an answer key for teacher quick check or student self-check.
