In the download you will receive 6 mats for students to compose and decompose fractions on. You can laminate them or place them in sheet protectors and then let students write their own fractions or you can use fraction strips/circles and have them place them on the mat.
You will also receive a set of 24 task cards that are scaffolded to allow students to practice with the basic concepts of these standards and then gradually work on the more complex skills.
Cards 1- 12 require students to shade models when expressions/equations are given to them.
Cards 13-24 require students to analyze shaded models and write an equation to match what is shaded.
Also in the download are 10 questions that are a mixture of multiple choice and open ended questions that are aligned to the fourth grade standards.
Recording sheets and answer keys are provided for the task cards and mixed review questions.
Print, preferably in color, cut, laminate and shuffle task cards.
Have your students complete the cards at a center and record their answers on the recording key provided. They can self-check their answers using the answer key or hand in their recording sheet for teacher quick check.
Use as a ticket out the door, picking one out of the stack to complete as a quick check or spiral throughout the year.
Keep intact and assign a sheet for homework for the night.
Great for fast finishers too!
Use the multiple choice sheets for homework, assessments, independent classwork, etc.
For the activity mats, laminate or put in sheet protectors and have students compose and decompose various fractions over and over again.
Better yet, break out the fraction strips and circles and have them build the fractions on the mats!
