This is a 50-60 point test for Shakespeare's Macbeth.
The test contains four pages of multiple-choice questions and one page with six quotes ready for short-answer explication. There are two additional questions for longer essay answers.
-The first two sections are set up for standard Scantron sheets (letters A-E), one point per question.
-The first section asks students to match characters with important features and events.
-The second section contains multiple-choice questions. These are not simple recall questions. They ask students to identify the meanings of lines, the tone of scenes, and the motivations behind characters' actions.
-I ask students in the third section to pick four of six provided quotes and to identify the speaker, situation, and meaning of each quote, for 5 points each.
-The final section asks students to choose one of two essay questions, for ten points.
You can, of course, omit sections and/or assign the points differently if you so choose.
My answer key includes the matching/multiple choice answers and summarized short answers for the quote explication section. The essay questions are somewhat more open-ended, so I have left it to you to decide what answers are acceptable.
