Here are 40 task cards that are differentiated to start out with simple volume questions and then build up to higher level thinking skills.
What’s in the download?
Cards 1-8 focus on finding the volume of 3D figures when the sides are labeled or the units can be counted.
Cards 9-16 are higher level thinking and ask students to find missing dimensions when the volume is given.
Cards 17-24 require students to analyze diagrams and models and find the volume.
Cards 25-32 have students create their own real-world scenarios or choose one that relates to situations where finding the volume is needed.
Cards 33-40 ask students to find the volume of shapes that are not perfect prisms.
There are a mixture of open ended and multiple choice questions throughout the set of task cards!
All you need to do is print, preferably in color, cut, laminate and shuffle cards. Then the options are endless:
•Have your students complete the cards at a center and record their answers on the recording key provided. Or get up and move by placing them around the room and playing a game of SCOOT.
•Use as a ticket out the door, picking one out of the stack to complete as a quick check or spiral throughout the year.
•Assign a sheet for homework for the night.
•Even use as an assessment or intervention
•Great for fast finishers too!
