My original unit test for R.J. Palacio's novel Wonder is my bestselling product (and you can check it out here: https://bit.ly/2GCC3Np). HOWEVER, it had been a couple of years since I taught that novel and used that test, so I have created a new and different version that you may be interested in as well.
This assessment includes character matching, multiple choice, short answer, and two short essays. My original test focuses more on analyzing a similar cold text, and this test focuses more on original thought and analysis of character development.
Part 1: Eight character matching questions
Part 2: Seven multiple-choice questions about basic plot points
Part 3: Five short-answer questions that ask students to explain character motivations, analyze how characters are different from one another, and analyze why some things are included and others are not (including character perspectives)
Part 4: Two short-essay questions that offer some student choice (students must choose one character and describe how they changed throughout the novel and choose one precept and explain how it relates to the themes of the novel)
This test took my students about 45-60 minutes to complete, and I was thrilled with how much personal insight they included in their responses.
